National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS)

National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS) a Commonwealth Government initiative, the NDSS has been providing subsidized diabetes supplies in Australia since 1987. Additional support from the State Government in recent years means many of these products are now FREE to people registered with the scheme.

Registration with NDSS is free for anyone diagnosed with diabetes. You can ask your general practitioner, or a credentialled diabetes educator to sign an NDSS registration form.

Once registered you can receive FREE syringes & insulin pen needles and blood glucose & urine testing strips are provided at heavily subsidised prices. You can obtain supplies through mail order via DA QLD or from sub-agencies listed on the inserted Diabetes Services Guide.

Prescriptions

A prescription is required to purchase all diabetes medications. The prescriptions may be dispensed at any pharmacy outlet.

Blood glucose testing strips and consumables can be supplied by pharmacies.
